Guidelines
Entry Fee
There is no entry fee for submitting an abstract to the World Congress, but to be considered for inclusion in the competition (i.e. in the poster gallery and oral final) you must register to attend the full three days.
Entry Rules
Abstract submission for the World Congress of Prehabilitation Medicine 2025 will open on May 19, 2025. There is no limit to the number of abstracts an author/individual may submit, but the same research cannot be submitted twice in separate abstracts. If you submit two abstracts with the same content, WPC Admin will automatically keep the most recent abstract submitted and withdraw the other.
Only Abstracts that have not been posted or published before are eligible for submission. Please do not submit the following as they are not eligible for World Congress:
- Abstracts submitted and accepted to other conferences, for example the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), Canadian Anesthesiology Society, the International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS), or the European Society of Anesthesiologists (ESA), as these have been posted and will be published.
- Work that has been published as a journal article prior to the start of the World Congress either in print or online.
Abstracts submitted for consideration must be an original idea, concept, or an improvement or revision of a previous idea. Submissions are peer-reviewed for scientific content, logical presentation, and current interest of the topic to the scientific community.

- The project / research being written about is complete or outlines plans for completion
- The abstract fits within the theme of prehabilitation and/or perioperative medicine
You will be informed within 30 days of submission (if not sooner) if your abstract has been accepted for inclusion at the congress. If it is found that your abstract does not meet the above requirements, you will be given the opportunity to redraft your abstract and resubmit or withdraw from the competition. If the abstract is accepted, further instructions will be provided with notification of whether it is accepted for oral or poster presentation.
When you are accepted to the competition you will need to register for the congress (if not already done) for your abstract to be included in the competition, both as a poster (in the virtual and in person gallery) and to be considered as an oral finalist. If you choose not to register, you will not be included.
Grading Process
When your abstract has been accepted for inclusion in the competition, you will be asked to produce a virtual poster for inclusion in the virtual poster gallery. Your abstract will also be reviewed by our Abstract Reviewing Committee to decide whether you will be asked to present your abstract in person.
All abstracts will be blinded for review by at least three of the Abstract Reviewing Committee (graders). c. Introduction background and context of the work
- establish the importance of research
- describe the need for the research
- generate new knowledge
- answer whether a previous observation can be replicated,
- document if previous findings can be applied to a different population
- determine if improved measurement techniques can clarify a relationship
d. Methodology used
- describe a stepwise approach to what was done
- identify primary end points/outcomes
- utilize existing instruments or procedures when possible
- maximize internal and external validity
- minimize bias/error
e. Consistency of the results
- pertain directly to the research question
